The Way of Breathing

A Small shift with big changes

Center True Breathing is nasal – diaphragmatic breathing-24/7. It’s your everyday breathing that can affect your weight gain/loss. It’s your everyday breathing that determines your breathing during exercise. And it’s your everyday breathing that can influence anxiety and chronic stress.

Have we all been breathing the wrong way?

Close to 60% of the population breathes wrong. The main culprit is hyperventilation syndrome, Breathing Pattern Disorder. Breathing in excess of the metabolic requirement to cause hypocapnia which causes too great a loss of CO2/carbon dioxide. CO2 is the key how oxygen gets released from the red blood cells into our tissues, cells and organs.

We use a simple Body Oxygen Level Test – BOLT to measure the sensitivity of the body to the buildup of CO2. This measurement will determine the onset and endurance to breathlessness. How quickly do you get breathless and how breathless you are over a given activity.

What will Center True Breathing change for me?

  • Highly active-fitness lifestyle: You will have a higher VO2 max  with increased endurance and performance.
  • Lower active-fitness or non-active lifestyle: You will have more energy and be motivated  to develop a personal exercise plan.
  • Mature adults: You will have more energy for an active-fitness lifestyle and feel 10-20 years younger.
  • Teens and Children: Develop endurance for sports and energy for an active life.

Center True Breathing – Approach Overview

We are looking at biochemistry by slowing down the breath to create light air hunger to change and reduce the sensitivity of the body to CO2/carbon dioxide. Taking the breathing from the chest to the diaphragm with biomechanics of slowing down the breath. Functional breathing is imperative to have nasal/diaphragmatic breathing. Two of the many benefits are: 1) paranasal sinuses produces NO/nitric oxide. NO plays a major role in every organ of your body. NO concentration through the nose is 500 times more than NO through the mouth. 2) The diaphragm is the main pump to detox the lymphatic system which is the body’s sewer system.

The two main components for CTL are Functional Breathing Pattern Training and Simulation of High-Altitude Training

Some of the many benefits are: Improve Heart Rate Variability and functioning of the Autonomic Nervous System – Improve blood circulation and oxygen delivery to the cells – Reduce exercise induced broncho constriction – Posture and spinal stabilization – Improve aerobic and anaerobic capacity – Stimulate anaerobic glycolysis without risk of injury – Increase VO2 max and running economy – Reduce free radicals and oxidative stress
